Les violences subies pendant l’enfance peuvent gravement affecter le développement et la santé des mineurs. La clinique de la violence chez l’enfant et l’adolescent et son traitement sont très spécifiques. Pédiatres et médecins légistes ont ainsi créé la Société française de pédiatrie médico-légale (sfpml) afin de penser les violences faites aux mineurs, du repérage à l’expertise, pour proposer des actions adaptées à leur particulière vulnérabilité et penser la prévention. L’enfant doit être un sujet de soins et non pas un objet d’investigation. La pédiatrie médico-légale promeut une pratique intégrée dans une dynamique de parcours de soins. L’expérimentation nationale « Santé protégée » a pour objectif d’améliorer la santé globale de ces enfants et adolescents en facilitant l’accès aux soins, le suivi et la coordination. Il paraît important aujourd’hui de mener des actions de prévention et de soins et d’assurer un accompagnement sécurisant des enfants pour limiter l’impact des violences et leur permettre de bien grandir.

Child abuse and neglect - health issues and perspectives
Abuse suffered by children early in life can severely impair future health and psycho-emotional development. The semiology of violence against children and adolescents and its treatment are quite specific to that age class. This observation led paediatricians and forensic doctors to create the French Society of Forensic Paediatrics (Société Francaise de Pédiatrie Médico-Légale, or SFPML) to lead thinking on violence inflicted on minors, from tracking to expertise, while also offering interventions suited to their particular form of vulnerability and working on prevention. The child must be the subject of care and not reduced to an object of investigation. Forensic paediatrics promotes a practice integrated into a care pathway dynamic. The national “Health Protected” experimentation aims to improve the global health of these children and adolescents by facilitating their access to care, follow-up and co-ordination. It appears essential to adopt a range of integrated preventive and supportive measures to lessen the negative effects of the violence sustained and help such young people develop harmoniously.
