When James Holmes, Aurora’s killer, claims during his arrest “I am the Joker,” in reference to the latest Batman movie, he exemplifies one of the possible modes of actualization of our virtual mediasphere. We will be at a loss when faced with such forms of acting out, as long as one fails to understand the nature of this virtuality inherent to media as such.
