A long history links the development of new technologies of communication with specters and ghosts. The street demonstrations which took place in Montreal in the spring of 2012 have condensed this history: old ghosts of a simulacrum government have appeared, with their special laws, mass media propaganda, and repression. But this ghostly experiment in real time has also set free other types of specters ? prismatic, hilarious, and liberating ? in the converging point where the unprecedented potentials of new media meet the old practice of walking together in the street.
