This article proposes a method by which governmental action could re-establish trust within French society and revive the meaning of community. Within the economy, this means humanizing exchange by rehabilitating cooperation versus competition. This would contribute to re-establish trust in politics by enabling the affirmation of more vigorous yet less defensive sense of “Us”. This would infuse the political process with meaning and renew with the dynamics of a responsible collective with respect to its becoming, rather that diffracting collectivities along the lines of identity categories charged with resentment or nostalgia. As a pedagogy of ordinary comprise, cooperation has the power to reconcile French society with itself and renew its confidence with respect to the future.
