The trend of rising unemployment has not been reversed, and we continue to wait for salvation under the guise of the return of economic growth. French growth rates are on a downward trend since the end of the 1960s, and an increasing number of experts now agree that growth rates are highly unlikely to return to former levels. Yet the return of growth is arguably not even desirable – at least not in the way it is presently calculated. Other measures must therefore be put in place without delay to help remedy the major social, economical and environmental crises our societies face today.
