The reader will find here some pages of Anders Nygren’s great book, Eros and Agapé, which develops a systematic and quite enluminating idealtype of the two great ancient conceptions of love, the Greek one, Eros, which allows to reach the love of the Other, of the Good and of the Beautiful without losing oneself, and the Judaeo-Christian Agapé which goes beyond all reciprocity.
