If, within the context of young underage Romas living in a shantytown, the concept of « home » takes on a meaning and a function different to those observed in the dominant society, it should not be interpreted as the product of a culture incapable of adapting to our societies. The rejection that Roma migrants are subjected to, the difficulties of accessing accommodation and employment give community practices a preponderant role in the building of self-esteem.
