The present article forms part of research into homoparental families and the development of the children involved. The qualitative clinical strand focuses on the approach for the elaboration of family bonds both from the parents’ and the children’s perspectives. The clinical data presented here were gathered in from the parents (a couple of women) via an interview as well as the free development of a family tree. For the child concerned (here an 11-year old girl), a family drawing was proposed together with five cat pictures, an interview and a genogram. The authors analyse the results in reference to psychoanalytical works on the family and especially to the two polarities of the bonds, with differentiation and indifferentiation. In the clinical study retained can be seen at work the logics of indifferentiation in relation to the elements of transgenerational transmission inherited by the parental couple, but also elements of differentiation resting on the oedipal organisation, identification in the geneaology and reference to “symbol generating third parties”. The data gathered in from the child highlight how she brings herself to inherit these logics of indifferentiation while still finding paths for subjectivation.
