On the eve of an announced change of cultural policy, Robert Abirached analyzes the reasons for a confused sense of the theater these days: from the multiplication of places and techniques of representation to the fall in audiences and omnipresence of television. Yet, theater remains present both as a discipline of the imaginary as well as a pedagogical tool. Theater has changed as has the world where it is practiced. It is therefore necessary to reason using new data.
