Si, dans le contexte migratoire des mineurs roms vivant en bidonville, le concept de maison prend un sens et une fonction différents que celui observé dans la société majoritaire, il ne doit pas être interprété comme le produit d’une culture incapable de s’adapter à nos sociétés. Le rejet que les Roms migrants subissent, les difficultés d’accès au logement et à l’emploi donnent aux pratiques communautaires un rôle prépondérant dans la construction de l’estime de soi.

The home within the migratory experience: the duality of young Romas caught up between social integration and community
If, within the context of young underage Romas living in a shantytown, the concept of « home » takes on a meaning and a function different to those observed in the dominant society, it should not be interpreted as the product of a culture incapable of adapting to our societies. The rejection that Roma migrants are subjected to, the difficulties of accessing accommodation and employment give community practices a preponderant role in the building of self-esteem.
