About
Honorary Professor at the Collège de France, holder of the History of Medieval and Modern European Art Chair (2001-2012). He is a member of the Institut (Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres, which he chaired in 2014). In 2012, the Institut des Études Avancées at the University of Strasbourg awarded him a chair in Historiography.
