Michelle Perrot is a historian specializing in women and gender studies. She initiated the first seminars in this field at Paris 7 University and co-edited, with Georges Duby, the volumes Histoire des femmes en Occident (Plon, 1991-1992; paperback edition published in 2002 by Perrin).
