Modern romantic experiences offer interesting perspectives for explaining the cognitive, emotional, and biopsychological complexity of humans. The process of individuation during the development of sociology shows, on the one hand, the complex tensions between individual and society and, on the other hand, the central role of the body, affections, and sensations in managing the possibilities of subjectivation and objectification of individuals, groups, and social institutions. Against liberal hypotheses relating to the individual as a separate and simplified machine, studies of individuation offer remarkable possibilities for a sophisticated and interdisciplinary reading of contemporary society. Studies on the gift and on reciprocity constitute key notions for explaining the epistemological foundations of this reciprocal individuation that turns out to be key for refounding socialities.
