By the end of the 90s, scientific activity and the university institution were already well engaged in a process of transformation. The development of a “university capitalism” had become obvious in the anglo-saxon countries. Academic knowledge was converted into marketed commodities and the universities into corporations of knowledge. The French government, urged by Claude Allègre and Dominique Strauss-Kahn, initiated the capitalist mutation of the research and teaching fields in the university.
