The historian Vincent Duclert was Chair of the Research Commission on the French Archives relating to Rwanda and the Tutsi Genocide. This interview looks back at his career as a historian, the conditions and challenges of the Commission’s work, and the reception given to its conclusions. It also provides an opportunity to discuss more broadly the practices of historians, the question of specialisation, and the relationship between history and justice and reparation.
