What is the wyrd common point between spatial orientation, sexual orientation and racial orientalism? How is our intimate experience of space as orientated and our fears of disorientation come to play a rôle in our ways of apprehending gender and sexual dissidence? Questions that Sara Ahmed’s phenomenology tackles in examining the way certain spaces we inhabit tend to straighten our behaviors and how those who disobey straightness are often read as strange, oblique, in a word: queer.
