In a 1993 lecture, Epeli Hau’Ofa, thinker and storyteller fom the Fidji Islands, invited us to reject a colonial gaze, reducing the life environment of Pacific islanders to scattered and isolated islands, in order to welcome a common life-form connected rather than separated by the ancestral existence of a sea of islands. This article attempts to unfold some of the horizons opened by this text in order to better understand what inseparates us in today’s world.
