We are in the “Chthulucene”, the long-term epoch in which a multiplicity of temporalities, of forces – not only human forces but also more-than-human and inhuman ones – and of names for the Earth – not only Gaia – intertwine. Such a transhistorical perspective considers the Anthropocene not as an apex of anthropomorphic creativity, but as a terrible ecological, social, and cultural impoverishment. The question then becomes: how can we ensure that the Anthropocene will not last? Haraway’s answer is : “Make Kin Not Babies!”
