Wrist X-rays analysis imposed to parentless young foreigners in order to determine their age as minors or adults have serious consequences, since they decide whether they will be provided assistance due to youth or whether they will be abandoned to the streets. From a mere recommendation, it has become mandatory practice since a new law promulgated in November 2015, against the opposition of health experts, advocates for human and children’s rights. This article tries to understand how the government and the Parliament have been led to impose it against such resistance.
