In July 2013, the mason Amarildo, inhabitants of the Rocinha slum, disappears. The inquiry shows that the responsible for his torture followed by death is the UPP — the police unit installed recently in the region. This violent death is not the first nor will be the last : this kind of event is quite commonplace in Rio. But this time, it takes place in a context of challenge to the security policy of the State of Rio de Janeiro and gives rise to a strong reaction from the social and cultural movements.
