This article presents a recent initiative of young Chinese women who ostensibly occupied the public men’s lavatory in Guangzhou, the capital city of the South of China. This demonstration, among many others, was intended to fight against the discriminations suffered by women. More public toilets are demanded to avoid the long queue which extends regularly in the streets. In the context of an authoritarian party-state with itsswift repression, the authors analyze the individual and collective genesis of this initiative.
