In spring 1950, Hélène Rytmann (said Legotien) made a request to the French Communist Party for her reintegration in its ranks. An investigation was done by the Central Political Control Commission (CCCP) of the PCF which delivered its conclusions in April 1952. Before the full reproduction of the contents of the file kept in the archives of the said commission, this article presents the role, composition and functioning of the CCCP at the time of the Cold War as well as the characteristics of “the Rytmann case” in this light.
