Today’s global debate is largely dominated by the economic crisis. Everyone is now familiar with the “sub-prime mortgage” and the return of Keynesianism. However, while our preoccupations are on OECD countries, far less attention is paid to African countries. And yet, these countries are deeply affected by the crisis, albeit to varying degrees depending on their economic openness, economic structure, and policies. This paper attempts to differentiate between the short- and medium-term impacts of the crisis on African countries and examines the recent geopolitical challenges in Africa.
