Experiencing, expressing and sharing emotions
In collaboration with Le Carnet PsyWhere do our emotions come from? How can we accept, process, and make sense of the emotions that overwhelm us? Why is it so important for us to share or express them?
During this meeting, David Le Breton will lead us to reflect on how our emotions, far from being spontaneous, are deeply influenced by the social codes and rituals that shape our relationship with the world.
Contrary to popular belief, our emotions are not innate, but are the product of the world around us. This is why verbalizing emotion, "saying" it, allows individuals to become part of a common symbolic framework and has a major therapeutic dimension.
David Le Breton is a professor of sociology and anthropology, a member of the Dynamiques Européennes laboratory at the University of Strasbourg, and a member of the Institut Universitaire de France. He is the author of numerous books, including Anthropologie des émotions. Être affectivement au monde (Payot, 2021).
