March 2019, during the Yellow Vest movement. It focuses on
three areas : the methodological challenges linked to survey
research in social movements ; the sociodemographic
characteristics of participants and, lastly, their engagement and
demands in relation to politics. The Yellow Vest movement has
mobilized certain segments of lower- and middle-income groups. As a
social movement, it also brings together people with very different

existence of different social and political profiles according to

Emblematic of the transformations affecting the world of work,
teleworking in France has progressed slowly but steadily. A large
number of theoretical and empirical research on teleworking focuses
primarily on the impact of this form of work (i.e., social,
organizational, individual, etc.). In order to encourage further
investigations and to disseminate the knowledge acquired, the
purpose of this contribution is to give a full account of existing
literature and outcomes of previous research focused on the impact
of telework, as currently defined, on the worker (and his
entourage) in different spheres of life (i.e., related to work,
family and social life). In this perspective, firstly, we present
the definitions of telework, the broad categories of telework which
can be identified, teleworkers’ characteristics, and the situation
of teleworking in France on the basis of quantitative data.
Secondly, we report the different stages of the literature review
process (databases and keywords included, inclusion/exclusion
criteria, papers retained). Publications incorporated in our final
sample highlight the positive and negative, direct and indirect
effects of telework on the worker in the world of work (i.e.,
efficacy, performance, productivity, commitment, sense of control
over the work, workload, motivation, satisfaction, stress and
health at work, quality and nature of the relationships,
professional and social isolation), and the way in which they
integrate telework into their daily lives (e.g., boundaries between
areas of life, work-life balance, well-being and quality of life).
Finally, on the basis of the review of the literature and the
findings in the field, we suggest areas for future research and
practical guidance to accompany and promote the success of telework
transition.

Who feels poor in France? Subjective poverty and social
insecurityPoverty is defined and measured differently: in terms of
standard of living, living conditions, or whether a person receives
welfare assistance from the state. A study of people in France who
self-report as poor and of the determinants of this perception of
own social position (based on data from the Opinion barometer
survey of the national statistical studies office) highlights
distance from the job market, being a welfare recipient, but also
the importance of respondent’s social class. It therefore suggests
the relevance of conjointly studying bodies of sociological
literature that may diverge on some points but all share a focus on
so-called subaltern or lower-class groups and welfare recipients.
Drawing on connections and discordances between the monetary and
subjective dimensions of poverty, our analysis finds the following
factors to be salient: the vulnerability of solitary individuals
and, to an even higher degree, single parents; housing occupation
status (homeowner or not), particularly among retirees. Last,
subjective poverty should be understood sociologically as an
indicator of persistent social insecurity associated with
particularly strong pessimism about the future. This shows how
poverty in France has been evolving within a framework of constant
crisis, and helps account for the dynamics currently at work at
lower levels of the social structure while showing the fit between
subjective and objective dimensions.

of passions for ethnic or national identities, which has produced a
new political regime, the democratorship. Invented by Vladimir
Poutine in Russia, exported to China or Turkey, taking the form of
illiberal democracy in Eastern Europe, the democratorship is
characterized by the cult of the strong leader, the refusal of the
state of law, the control of the economy and society by the state,
mass propaganda and targeted repression. Democratorships frontally
oppose democracies, whose crisis they exploit at the international
level as well as under the domestic pressure of populist groups.
However, their breakthrough masks real weaknesses due to the lack
of guarantee of individual freedoms. The challenge represented by
democratorships establishes once again political liberty as a
