La révolution technologique de l’internet a remis au goût du jour la pensée héritée de Norbert Wiener d’une société de l’information. Ses origines cybernétiques sont abordées comme allant de soi sans vraiment être questionnées. Cet article entend contribuer à corriger ce manquement. Il s’agira d’interroger l’idéalité de la société de l’information comme projet philosophique afin de la confronter aux fondements des discours programmatiques des années 2000. L’objectif étant de comprendre sur quoi se basent à la fois la résurgence et l’oubli de ce concept qui originellement imposait une réflexion vigilante pour un progrès d’abord humain.

The “Information Society”: between resurgence and neglect of a cybernetic concept
The Internet technological revolution has reawakened interest in Norbert Wiener’s concept of an Information society. The cybernetic origins of this notion are simply taken for granted without being explored. This article seeks to correct this omission. We analyze the ideal of the Information society as a philosophical project in order to confront it with the foundations of programmatic discourses of the 2000s. Our aim is to understand the basis of both the resurgence and the neglect of this concept, which originally called for vigilant reflection on human progress.
