The purpose of this article is to discuss the new sensibilities in modern metropolises arising from the “Internet of Things” and smart city projects. The main hypothesis is that a new sensibility arises with objects with sensors, a connection with digital networks, and info-communicational capabilities. Having now become a digital tool, objects have a performative sensibility that produces demands and action towards other objects, keeping the memory of these actions in large digital databases. The new performative sensibility thus produces actions in real time and in the near future. This is the basis of an algorithmic governmentality. The purpose of this article is to draw attention to the new performative sensibility of objects in the Internet of Things, smart cities and big data initiatives.
