This contribution, mainly based on private archives, is dedicated to the genesis and the first years of the Montessori School directed by Michel Lanternier. Between the 1940s and the 1960s, this school moved from Limoges to Rennes and faced financial, material, and institutional problems. Supported by the families of students, the teaching staff strove to offer Montessori pedagogy with specific material and the products of Michel Lanternier’s educational research, encouraged by Mario Montessori.
