This article examines the effects of the growing uncertainty affecting contemporary societies due to the end of the grand narratives, the acceleration of change, the fragmentation of the society and the rise of individualisation. In fact, the multiplication of unforeseen events with multiple effects in the medium term, and above all the intensification and diversification of uncertainty, which are sources of risk and insecurity that provoke feelings of anger and anxiety, have an impact on the development of current phenomena such as presentism, populism or conspiracy.
