The article deals with a critical appraisal of “The social construction of reality” by P. Berger and Th. Luckmann. It particularly highlight the relationship between socialization and identity. Indeed, the sociological approach of an identical construction within a world which is structurally heterogeneous, is successful in grasping the mutations and breaks in the course of modern man’s socialization and to capture specific configurations. It fails, however, to account the numerous combinations that subjects bring about to construct their cultural formulas and to individualize themselves according to their own subjectivity, their singularity and their objective conditions of life.
