Le 10 mars 2023, l’Arabie saoudite, la Chine et l’Iran annoncent que les deux États riverains du golfe Persique souhaitent relancer leur relation et renouer diplomatiquement. Outre les développements politiques offerts par un tel rapprochement, la circonspection est en réalité de mise. Il apparaît que le rapprochement diplomatique entre l’Arabie saoudite et l’Iran n’est ni inédit, ni révolutionnaire pour le golfe Persique, ni traducteur d’un changement de paradigme diplomatique dominé par la Chine.
On March 10th, 2023, SaudiArabia, China, and Iran announced that the two countries bordering the Persian Gulf wished to relaunch their relationship and resume diplomatic relations. Aside from the political developments offered by such a rapprochement, circumspection is in fact the order of the day. It would appear that the diplomatic rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and Iran is neither unprecedented, nor revolutionary for the Persian Gulf, nor indicative of a shift in the diplomatic paradigm dominated by China.
