Cet article examine des chansons prononcées lors de meetings du CDP qui ont été organisés dans des villages jàana lors de la campagne électorale de 2012. Ces chansons permettent de penser le don de multiples points de vue en situant, simultanément, les chanteurs et les candidats comme donateurs et donataires. Dons d’éloges, elles ont également déguisé des appels au don d’argent que les candidats ont dû satisfaire. Surtout, ces chansons montrent la façon dont la « foutaise » s’incruste dans le don en dévoilant une lutte de pouvoir. La « foutaise » révèle, depuis les villages jàana, l’histoire du régime compaoriste jusqu’à sa chute. Elle exprime, en outre, une incertitude inhérente à l’acte de donner, qu’il s’agisse d’un chant ou d’argent, en invitant à penser le pouvoir en termes géographiques.

The Gift and the “foutaise”. A Study of Songs during the Electoral Campaign of November 2012 in Jàana Villages (Burkina Faso)
This article examines songs delivered during CDP’s meetings in jàana villages for the electoral campaign of 2012. These songs question, from different perspectives, the relation of gift by situating simultaneously singers and candidates as the giver and the recipient. If they were songs of praise, they also disguised calls for money that the candidates had to satisfy. Especially, these songs show how “la foutaise” (“e bebieri”) is entrenched in the gift and reveals a power struggle. Though, “la foutaise” highlights the history of the compaorist regime until its fall from jàana villages. It also expresses the inherent uncertainty in the act of giving, whether a song or money is given, and finally leads to analyze power in geographical terms.
